One sketch 3 ways part 2 - Foxy valentine

For this card I used the sketch as the basis but turned the card base 90 degrees to make a non-pink-and-fluffy Valentine's card for my husband.

I started with a piece of card and instead of using strips of paper like on the first card, I wrapped the baker's twine around the bottom three times. I used the fox couple from Newton's Nook and coloured them in with markers before cutting them out in a circle, and die cut a larger circle from paper.

I layered the card on the base with sticky fixers, added the paper with tape and the image with more sticky fixers. (If I'd been going to post the card I'd have only used one layer of sticky fixers so that it would go through the post on the cheaper rate.) Finally I added the sentiment on the front, and then added a "hello foxy" sentiment inside.

What I used:
  • Newton's Nook Fox Hollow stamp set
  • "Happy" sentiment from Newton's Nook Holiday Wishes set
  • "Valentine's day" stamp from Paula Pascal large all round messages set
  • Papers, white card and bakers' twine from my stash
  • Copic markers
  • Circle dies, scissors, double sided tape, sticky fixers, black Ranger Archival ink pad

One sketch 3 ways part 1 - Mousey birthday

I used my sketch exactly as it was for the first card - the birthday card for my sister-in-law.

The stamp of the mouse in the mug is really cute and  as I'd been looking for an excuse to use it, I thought this was as good an excuse as any! I coloured it in a pink theme, then found papers to match, layered them all up and stamped the greeting.

The papers were all from my stash, with some actually being off-cuts from old calendar pages, proving you don't need to spend a lot to find nice paper!

What I used:
  • House Mouse Warm Cup stamp
  • "Happy" sentiment from Newton's Nook Holiday Wishes set
  • "Birthday" stamp from Paula Pascal large all round messages set
  • Papers and white card from my stash
  • Copic markers
  • Circle dies, scissors, double sided tape, sticky fixers, black Ranger Archival ink pad

Challenging myself - one sketch three ways

I'm got a day off tomorrow, a freshly organised stash and a draw overflowing with paper, so I'm going to set myself the challenge of coming up with three completely different cards from one sketch. I've never tried making a card from a sketch before, so it's a totally new thing for me!

The sketch I've chosen is this one from Ellen Hutson papercraft essentials & more. Tomorrow I'm going to sit down and try to make three cards, one of which will be a birthday card, because I need one for my sister-in-law, and one may be a Valentine's card for my hubby. I'll post pictures later in the week!
